WOULD I GO BACK? 100% next time I’m in NYC
This was one of the best restaurants I have ever visited. Eric Ripert is one of New York’s most acclaimed chefs and I regret passing up the opportunity to get a sign copy of his cookbook.
We went for lunch, which I sensed was the most charming time to visit, as you can see onto the bustling street on the ground floor. The windowed, street-facing wall let in a pleasant amount of daylight that allowed you to appreciate the room and people watch comfortably. The room is the most impressive, and tastefully decorated restaurant I have ever visited. There’s a lot of polished wood, well-spaced, white-clothed, round tables and warm lighting.
You can have as much bread from the basket as you please, which was a recipe for greed.
There not much else to say apart from: “go”, “order the truffle pasta and the lobster” and “order something with a jus…especially a rosemary and red wine jus.”
The lunch cost AUD445 and was definitely the best value of all the restaurants we visited on this trip. We were greeted with a delectable set of salmon rillettes and mini toasts.
We hadn’t even had our first course yet and I was already so impressed with the atmosphere and the service. This restaurant is the gold standard for a classic restaurant. My partner didn’t come wearing a jacket, and he was lent a Hugo Boss blazer by the restaurant.
The three dishes below were all 10/10s.
My favourite dish was the tagliatelle pasta with black truffle sauce. I could have had infinite bowls of this. The sauce was perfection and I was in heaven on earth.
I cannot even recall the name of this fish dish but it’s not on the many anymore unfortunately. We remember it was perfect!
Dessert was destined to be a highlight. Every technique was nailed and the flavours were balanced so well.
We accepted a complimentary scoop of ice cream to round out the meal. This restaurant made a lasting impression and one of my favourite experiences in New York.
